ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN is an aviation action game that takes dogfighting to new heights for the genre. In addition to the shootouts, there is a story told from the point of view of the pilots. The mechanics are designed for dynamic battles: missiles, evasive maneuvers, working with radar. There are different aircraft with their own characteristics, as well as a development tree where new weapons are unlocked. The plot is told through episodes and conversations, and gradually it becomes clear what kind of war is going on. The design is spectacular, the music is orchestral, and the atmosphere is that of a big blockbuster. The controls are accessible, but require some getting used to. Free flights allow you to explore the area from above and get used to the controls without the pressure of the plot. The development tree unlocks new aircraft and weapons, and the money earned is invested in parts between missions. A thunderstorm front changes the visibility and behavior of the missiles, so departure requires a different approach. Conversations between tasks add up to the overall picture of what is happening at the front. Some missions are not completed the first time, and you want to return to difficult episodes with an improved car. Some missions are completed alone, others as part of a team, and then it is important not to interfere with your own. Evasion maneuvers require practice: missiles come from different directions, and decoys do not always save you. Orientation in the air is not given right away, but then the flight missions are calmer and cleaner. For those who like spectacular dogfights with history, the ACE COMBAT 7 is suitable.
