Arctico (Eternal Winter)

Arctico - arctic, cold and endless snow: the only thing that warms you is the camp, which you have to build from scratch. The expedition is sent to collect information about the area, but survival quickly becomes more important than any scientific tasks. Food alone doesn't last long, so fishing, hunting and gathering go on constantly. Heat, food and fuel are constantly consumed, so the camp has to be developed: new buildings provide protection from the wind and the ability to process what is found. The weather changes plans more often than we would like, and working outside at night is simply dangerous. Stations and buildings along the route provide a respite: there you can warm up, repair your equipment and leave some of your finds. During the day the road looks deceptively calm, but by night the wind gets stronger and visibility decreases. Dogs react to what is happening before humans, so it’s worth listening to their behavior. A dog team of four dogs serves as both transport and a burden: the animals need to be fed, watered and given rest, otherwise they will not pull the sled. In return, they carry equipment and help get to distant points. You have to collect information on the map gradually: the more places you survey, the clearer it is where to look for resources and how to survive the next storm. Windmills, generators and warehouses appear as materials are found. The scientific part also makes sense: terrain data opens up new points on the map and allows you to plan forays. Sometimes you come across records of previous expeditions, and from them it becomes clear why this land is empty. For those who love quiet survival in harsh conditions and dogs as partners.
