The gameplay is a classic isometric RPG. You need to control several heroes. The cast of the main characters is selected individually. A huge world is available for exploration, and by fighting enemies, characters gain experience and level up. In addition to the main quest, there are many additional tasks. There are various classes available in the game, but the re-release adds one more - whales. Some improvements have been introduced into the game that allow you to combine identical items, which significantly affects the saving of inventory space. Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition now includes a journal that allows you to combine quests and notes related to the same task into a collapsible list. The interface has changed, which now reflects the influence of weapons, armor and other items and artifacts.
