DARK SOULS: Prepare To Die Edition

DARK SOULS: Prepare To Die Edition is the edition from which the series became famous on personal computers. Here the player is not led by the hand: there are few explanations, the enemies are deadly, and mistakes cost you the loss of everything accumulated. The world is connected together: from the starting location, paths lead in different directions, and the order of passage depends on the choice. Combat is based on training: dodging, blocking and waiting matter more than the power of the blow. In addition to the main task, there are tasks for meeting characters, forging weapons and searching for secret passages. The edition includes an addition with new bosses and locations. It’s worth mentioning separately about the fires: they rest there, replenish their flasks and return after death, and this is the only point of support in the world. In addition to battles, there is forging, enchanting and searching for secret passages. Bosses require training: you have to notice and remember techniques, and not just press buttons. The world is connected together, so you choose the order of exploration yourself, and a random entry into an unfamiliar area ends quickly. The complexity here is fundamental, and this should be understood in advance. Some characters give tasks after long conversations, so there is no need to rush into research. The world does not adapt to the hero's level, so entering an unfamiliar area is almost always risky. Fires are used for resting and replenishing flasks, so the route is built taking into account their location. Equipment is matched to your opponents, and forging and enchanting influence the results more than it seems. For everyone who appreciates challenges and is not afraid to figure things out on their own, this version remains a reference point.
