The Surge

The Surge - a large corporation promises employees a new body and work at the factory, but instead, something bad is happening at the factory. The hero comes to his senses with an exoskeleton on his back and without the right to choose. The first opponents explain the rules: you need to hit a specific part of the body until the armor falls off. Battles take place from a third-person perspective, and the main weapon here is a chainsaw built into the suit. The blows are delivered to parts of the body: cutting off an enemy’s arm with an armored plate means getting this material for reinforcement. A new set is assembled from severed trophies: each piece of armor gives its own bonuses and affects resistance to damage. The implants are placed separately and waste the energy of the exoskeleton, so the set has to be balanced between protection and beneficial effects. For successful parries, the hero accumulates a charge and can perform finishing moves, which save time in a fight with a crowd. Progress is based on the wreckage of cars and people: new equipment is assembled from parts, and modules for implants are made from trophies. Each upgraded node changes the gameplay, be it faster reactions or additional battery cells. Locations change as the story progresses: workshops and warehouses give way to streets littered with garbage and iron dumps, where the most dangerous creatures roam. Major opponents require not strength, but knowledge of their weak points. In addition to story missions, there are instructions from surviving employees: some of them are looking for relatives, some are looking for missing reports. Side rooms and caches hide rare parts, which are often more useful than the armor found, so you should carefully go around the nooks and crannies.
