Dinkum

Dinkum is a life and farming simulator set on the island of Choc-A-Bloc. The main character is tired of his hometown and moves to live in the wild Australian nature, where instead of amenities, a tent, tools and empty land await him. You have to start small: clear the site, get materials, build a normal house. Then a vegetable garden, animals, and trade with local residents appear, who gradually come to the island and settle nearby. There is a change of seasons and temperatures: in winter, for example, everything looks and behaves differently. In addition to farming, there are also adventures: ore mines, underground passages, encounters with local wildlife, which is not always friendly. Tools can be improved, and new areas around the island are gradually opening up. It is also worth noting that local residents are gradually moving to the island and opening their shops, and with them new tasks and goods appear. There are also seasonal events, due to which some plants and animals are only available at certain times. All this makes the island a living place, and not just a construction site. It’s also nice that the game has no schedule or penalties for slowness: you set the pace, not timers. In addition to the farm, there are also small challenges: vehicle races, fishing and underground forays for rare materials. The game was made in Unity and is outwardly modest, but the amount of work with the world is large. Dinkum is an option for those who love the quiet arrangement of their corner and don’t mind that progress is measured not by levels, but by how your home looks.
