Grand Theft Auto 3 is the first part of the series to move into full-fledged three-dimensional space. The player takes on the role of the mercenary Claude, who was framed by his former comrades Catalina and Miguel. The hero gets out of prison and is now looking for retribution. Gradually he finds himself drawn into a gang war: the Devils, the Triads, the Yardies, the Hoods, the Yakuza, the Mafia and the Colombian Cartel. Some assignments are given over the phone. Districts of the city open up as you progress through the story. The police make life difficult in the later stages, so it's better to end the chase.
