Return to Monkey Island is a continuation of the cult series of quests about Guybrush Threepwood. Franchise creators Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman worked on the game, and the music was written by people from the previous parts. The gameplay remains classic and is only slightly adjusted to modern habits. The dialogues give different lines, and some of the jokes are revealed when the line is right. The drawing and animation are adjusted to modern tastes. The inventory was simplified, the controls were improved, but branched dialogues and reactions to objects remained. You can explore both familiar places and new ones. There are almost no clues, and the puzzles keep the hardcore bar. The inventory is collected in one list and does not interfere with reading. Some of the riddles require you to guess the joke of the authors. Chronologically, the story falls between the second and third parts and relies more on the LeChuck's Revenge. The world has changed: Stan found himself behind bars due to advertising violations, Captain Madison led the young pirates, and Elaine Marley left the gubernatorial duties. Riddles connect objects and conversations into one knot. Pirates and sailors respond to cues differently. Guybrush, who defeated the zombie pirate LeChuck, never revealed the secret of the island and is now simply floating with the flow. Old acquaintances return, including Murray's demonic skull. Each meeting adds its own flavor to the story. Old characters return and add familiar notes to the story. Sea crossings are shown in separate scenes. Anyone who grew up on quests about pirates will find this game suitable.
