Silent Hill: Homecoming (New Edition) is the fifth installment in the iconic franchise, taking players to the city of Shepherd's Glen. The story of Silent Hill: Homecoming revolves around war veteran Alex Shepard. He comes to his hometown to find his missing brother Josh. However, events soon take a mystical turn when he learns that the city is ruled by 4 families: Bartlett, Holloway, Fitch and Shepard. They sacrifice their children to preserve the well-being of this place. As in previous parts, the events of Silent Hill 5 develop in two worlds: real and alternative. A huge number of new monsters are introduced and some old enemies return, including nurses and Pyramid Head. Silent Hill: Homecoming (New Edition)'s gameplay is, as before, divided into three components: combat, exploration and puzzles. An important feature is that the gameplay places more emphasis on dynamic action. Thanks to the fact that Alex is a former military man, he can carry out several types of attacks, alternating them in combinations, block, dodge blows and counterattack. The QTE mechanic was an innovation. There are 2 difficulty levels to choose from: normal and difficult. Since the main character meets living people more often, there is a choice of lines in the dialogues. Alex uses a combat knife, ceremonial dagger, pipe, crowbar, fire ax and circular saw as weapons. Long-range weapons include the MK 23 pistol, 12-gauge shotgun, M14 rifle, alien blaster, and several other types of weapons. The broken radio returned, signaling the approach of enemies. There are two inventories in Silent Hill 5: for quest objects and medicines and for permanent items. The hero carries a diary with him, in which he makes notes and puts together Josh's drawings.
