The Closing Shift shows the life of the main character, which at first glance seems routine. The indie game allows you to explore the main character's apartment and then go on the night shift with her one rainy evening. The girl works as a barista at Chilla's Coffee, located in one of the cities of Japan. The plot begins with the fact that a lady is late for work and on the way to the establishment she finds someone else’s phone. Gameplay is based on exploring locations, solving puzzles and talking with non-player characters. As the story progresses, you also need to complete various tasks. The video game also involves preparing a variety of drinks for customers, mixing ingredients according to their orders. There is an inventory where you can view the collected items from different angles and combine them with each other.
