This Is the Police - Jack Boyd is the chief of police in the small town of Fribourg, and he is about to be kicked out the door. The corrupt mayor does not tolerate someone who can get to the bottom of too much, so the hero has a limited time and the goal of leaving on his own terms. Colleagues and the press are watching every move, so reputation in the city also becomes a resource. The work of the station goes through the map: calls come in one after another, and officers must be distributed wisely. Experienced people are assigned to serious cases, newcomers are sent to small ones, and this determines who returns from their shift and who writes a report. The shift manager puts out a list of incidents every time, and some of them have already been fabricated by those who benefit from silence. Between challenges, you have to solve moral problems: whether to take money from the mafia, whether to cover up someone else’s crime, which employees to fire and which to keep. Each decision is revoked later, and some of the lines end far from being planned. Some of the employees are ready to work honestly, some have long been involved with local bandits. The presentation is made in the form of a comic book with voiced lines, and the tone of the story is noir, without unnecessary illusions about the system. The ending depends on whether the hero had enough toughness or greed. Officers come to work with their own troubles: one has debts, another has health problems, and dealing with this is also the responsibility of the chief. At the same time, an investigation is underway, where the stakes are higher than ordinary thefts. The game is divided into days, and at the end of each day a balance is drawn up: how much was worked out, who was lost, what was hidden.
