Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a survival simulator set in very unusual conditions. In most games of this genre, a person in trouble is forced to adapt to the wild nature and reinvent ways of obtaining food, fire and water, invent weapons and clothing from improvised means, and again prove in every possible way that man is the king of nature. This game is different. The player will have to invent for the first time everything that our ancestors had, because the action takes place in Africa of the Neogene period, long before our days. This is a beautiful and lush world, but at the same time merciless and cruel. To survive in it, you need to develop. Game Features: • Survival simulator with a third-person view. • Prehistoric setting with many dangerous and now extinct animals. • Gradual evolution of an entire primate species. • Unique mechanics such as fear, hysteria, social interaction. • The vast open world of Neogene Africa, 10 million years BC. The player controls a member of a clan of primates and must monitor his condition, hunger, thirst and fatigue in every possible way. The African jungles of that time were home to many different dangers, including African pythons, saber-tooth tigers, giant boars, crocodiles, hyenas, giant otters, African buffaloes and others. You can use your natural agility to climb any tree in the jungle, but if the player falls, they will break all their bones. While exploring new locations or escaping from predators, the player character falls into a state of fear, which can be overcome by finding glowing balls, otherwise the stage of hysteria will begin. Monkeys can also use their heightened senses to detect sounds—predators, lost community members, or a stranger wanting to join. Primates can use intelligence to point out the location of various interesting objects, as well as make new discoveries, such as finding new food or tools. As new discoveries are made, primates become smarter and more capable, and begin to use new skills - creating litter from leaves or using medicinal herbs for healing. If a player dies, a new community member will be under his control. If all members of the community die, the lineage is interrupted and the game must be started again. The goal of the game is to ensure the survival of a clan of primates that have evolved to become a completely new species. As the clan grows, the player can control different primates - children, adults, old people and mothers. The clan evolves and the player can engage in social interactions, such as inviting clan members to hunt, explore, or migrate to a new habitat. While sleeping, players can unlock new skills by developing a neural system that replaces the skill tree. Each skill, such as walking on two legs and using both hands, represents evolution and is passed on to future generations.
