The world is in the midst of the Second Great Depression. The gameplay is a first-person shooter. There is no story campaign. There are only maps for single player play with bots. In Battlefield 2042, great attention is paid to the network component. The possibility of competition of 128 participants simultaneously is presented. Due to the increase in the number of participants, the cards have expanded. The detail of locations has been increased and their destructibility has been increased. There are 7 unique maps available: Antarctica, Qatar, South Korea, India, Singapore, Guiana and Egypt. Natural disasters may occur. For example, there may be a hurricane, tornado, sandstorm, etc. Weather conditions in Battlefield 2042 directly affect the gameplay and can provide a tactical advantage. Instead of classes, heroes now have specialist status. There are 10 specialties to choose from. All characters are migrants from different countries. Depending on the choice of specialty, each hero has unique skills and weapons. Stormtrooper Webster McKay uses a grappling hook and has great speed. Medic Maria Falk heals allies from a distance using her pistol. Engineer Piotr Guskovsky deploys turrets, and scout Wikus Van Diel can mark enemies with a drone. The multiplayer game includes 3 modes: Total War, Danger Zone and Classic Battles for Veterans.
