Call to Arms

Call to Arms combines tactical strategy and shooter: the player commands a unit, and, if desired, takes control of a specific fighter - a commander, sniper, medic or attack aircraft. In a battle with terrorists, you have to simultaneously monitor the positions of the soldiers and participate in the firefight personally, and this noticeably changes the feeling of the game. Units and equipment are customizable: you can buy additional units, change the composition and select equipment for the task. There are tanks, armored vehicles and fortifications on the field, and urban battles require caution, because there is a lot of cover, but there are no less threats. In addition to battles, there is a management and development mode: between missions you have to decide where to invest funds and which units to strengthen. This turns the project into a mixture of genres rather than a pure strategy, and that's what makes it interesting. Separately, it is worth noting that the game has an editor and scripts, due to which the community creates its own battles. Supporting vehicles and infantry at the same time makes the battle varied, and you can move from random decisions to thoughtful operations. This is enough for a niche project. The game was made by a small studio and looks modest in places, but it allows you to switch between the scale of command and personal participation. For those who like tactics with the opportunity to get into formation themselves, this is an interesting option.
