According to the plot, we begin to play with an additional character - Alix Vance. Gordon Freeman and she must escape City 17. While the Alliance Citadel, which Freeman has all but destroyed, could claim the life of the entire city, our heroes must leave the City. At the beginning of the game, we see the Citadel collapsing before Gordon's eyes. A falling monitor is captured showing Chairman Brin asking the protagonist, "You've destroyed too much, but what have you created?" From here begins the philosophy told until the 5th, final chapter of the plot. Half-Life 2: Episode One is a full-fledged expansion that does not require the second part of the original game. The events within the plot are related to the fact that this is a direct continuation of the second part, but the game was developed independently of the gameplay and graphics of the original. The game offers full interaction with the artificial intelligence Alix. For example, you will save your partner more than once by the fact that during the absence of the gravity gun, for example, we will highlight the enemies with a flashlight so that the heroine can shoot at them. AI is also developed towards mental interaction: Vance will comment on our actions, determine our intentions and set the correct rhythm of the game. The developers left only the artificial intelligence of the enemies, who have not become smarter, but now they know the map better and move towards you at any suspicion. Shooting physics and overall bullet ballistics have also been improved. Many players admit that the first episode became a cult achievement of the development studio, because Half-Life is the first story-based film to have such a success.
