Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is a simulator of work at a quarantine post, where each shift consists of checks and decisions. A line of people passes in front of the hero, and who gets inside the safe zone depends on his attentiveness. The tasks seem to be simple: check documents, inspect things, scan temperatures and conduct a search. But suspicious signs are not always obvious, and mistakes have consequences. Over time, new devices and rules appear, and the situation behind the walls becomes more and more alarming. In addition to the main shift, there are everyday details: reports, orders from superiors and small requests from people in line. The design is modest, but the tension is conveyed through anticipation and little details. The devices are gradually expanding: first a regular thermometer, then a scanner and a database with orientations. The queue can be different: someone is in a hurry, someone is nervous, and this is noticeable in people’s behavior. The boss issues orders, and some of them contradict common sense. Shift reports influence how the work is evaluated and what is allowed next time. Every decision has consequences: a missed infection turns into an outbreak, and a person detained in vain loses trust. Documents can be fake, so it’s worth checking the details, not just the stamps. Some shifts go smoothly, and this is also part of the job. The complexity increases with the new rules. In addition to the shift, there are reports and orders for which the player himself is responsible. The reputation of the service influences what powers will be given in the future. Some decisions have to be made quickly when the queue is impatient. The rules and instruments become more complicated as the service progresses, and you have to get used to it gradually. For those players who like leisurely simulators with moral choices, the project is interesting.
