Sniper Elite V2 is a tactical action game with a third-person view. The project was developed by the fairly well-known studio Rebellion and published in 2012. The game takes place during World War II in Western Europe. The main character, named Karl Fairbairn, goes on a special mission to Berlin, besieged by Soviet troops. He has a specific task - to eliminate the rocket scientists, or, if possible, to recruit one of them to the side of the United States of America. Now the main character will have to fight not only with the troops of the German Nazis, but also with the soldiers of the Red Army, pursuing the same goals as him. As the game progresses, he will also have to eliminate German defector officers, because under no circumstances should important information be allowed to leak into the camp of the US’s potential enemy, the USSR. The gameplay is an unusual stealth action game using a long-barreled sniper rifle, which causes some difficulties when using it. At medium range, Karl can use a pistol, and in close combat he relies on a combat knife. In addition, as the player progresses, he has the opportunity to use various mines, grenades, tripwires and even machine guns in battle, so the arsenal here is not limited to just a sniper rifle. There is also an “X-ray” mode, when when a bullet hits the enemy’s body, the camera slows down and shows this penetration from all angles, adding dynamism and entertainment to the process.
