Worms W.M.D is the next part of the series about fighting worms, and here everything is familiar at first glance: two teams, turn-based moves, an arsenal of missiles, grenades and other troubles. The controls are simple, but planning a strike requires skill. Innovations are noticeable in the details. It is now possible to build shelters, as well as use vehicles and guns that need to be occupied - this changes the usual logic of battle, because now it is important not only to get in, but also to block the enemy’s approaches. The arsenal is rich, and wind and terrain still affect every shot. You can play against the computer or against each other, both online and behind the same screen. Matches can be short or long, and almost every one ends in laughter after a particularly bad shot. It is also worth noting that in the series it was always important not only to hit, but also to laugh: erroneous throws are valued here no less than successful ones. The new part added more tactical options, but the spirit remained the same. There are short modes for quick games, and long battles for those who like to think through their moves in advance. It's worth remembering that both chance and precision have always been important in the series: sometimes the loss is explained by the wind, and sometimes by the fact that the player chose the wrong shell. In the new part, this balance has been preserved, except that there are more options. The game is great for company: the games are short, and discussing failures takes more time than the moves themselves. The style remained cartoonish and deliberately noisy. The Worms W.M.D doesn't try to reinvent the genre, but it does what is expected of it: it gives you a reason to fight with your friends and laugh at the results.
