The Call of the Wild: The Angler takes you on a fishing trip to the open spaces of North America, where nature remains almost untouched. The player gets to experience coniferous forests, mountain rivers and icy lakes, and each body of water can be moved freely, rather than standing at one point. Fishing here is not about speed, but about observation. You need to read the water, select gear for the conditions and understand where a particular type of fish is located. The weather and time of day change the behavior of the inhabitants of the reservoir, so the usual place may stop working in the evening. There is also a full-fledged development system: new gear, bait and routes open up, and with them the opportunity to hunt for larger specimens. What’s especially pleasing is that you can simply explore the world: ride along the river, find a secluded creek, spend the night in a tent. It is also worth noting that there are several large bodies of water in the game, and each has its own character: somewhere a river with a fast current, somewhere a deep lake, somewhere a quiet creek with snags. There are also seasons that change the behavior of the fish, as well as a system of tasks for which new gear is given. Travel between points is deliberately leisurely: it's part of the feeling of being outdoors. The settings of gear and bait significantly affect the result: sometimes it is worth changing the wiring, and sometimes you just need to wait until the fish returns to its original place. There are few serious competitions with other players here, but solo diving works great. For those who need a quiet holiday in nature, the game provides exactly silence, water and anticipation of a bite.
