Half-Life 2: Episode One

Half-Life 2: Episode One - the citadel is destroyed, and the city where the battle just took place is falling apart along with it. Gordon Freeman and Alix Vance find themselves at the epicenter: dark energy is burning out all living things, and they need to leave before the core stabilizes. The exit is not immediately closed: some of the passages are blocked, and the path has to be cleared with a gravitational gun. The road leads through familiar places - streets, metro stations and technical tunnels - but now they look different. Part of the way has to be made in the dark, saving the energy of the suit, and only then Alix gets to the surface with a flashlight. Along the way, you come across survivors who can be pulled out from under the rubble, and small rewards are given for this. The ammo here is not endless, so it is better to start firefights from an advantageous position, rather than from an open place. Whenever possible, Alix tells you where you need it, and you can really rely on her. The companion has become much more useful: she shoots, hacks devices, helps get over gaps and comments on what is happening. It’s easier to go through difficult sections together, but the responsibility is higher - the heroes don’t leave each other. The gravity gun is back in action, and with it the familiar puzzles with barrels and saws. As the episode progresses, you come across zombies, Alliance soldiers and antlions, of which there are more and more in the dungeons. Towards the end, the heroes will face a long trip along a broken road and a desperate race, where a lot depends on the pace. After the denouement, there remains an unpleasant feeling that the main character will not be released again, and this feeling will later be confirmed in the second part. For those who want to go through Gordon's story to the end and see how the way out of the fallen city ends.
