Half-Life 2 is a first-person shooter, which at one time became the voice of an entire generation and left players waiting for the third part. The project has so many awards that there is no point in listing them in the description, but the most important thing is worth mentioning. The release of the game was an event in its time: they promised a sequel, but received a new level for the genre as a whole. The plot continues from the first part: Gordon Freeman takes up the mount again, but the world around has become more realistic and darker. City 17 lives under the rule of the Alliance, there are patrols on the streets, and people have long been accustomed to keeping their heads down. The technology of that time produced a picture that was discussed both in magazines and on forums: faces, water and light noticeably distinguished the game from its contemporaries. Physics works like a weapon here: Grabbing the gravity gun allows you to hurl barrels, saws and debris at your opponents. Puzzles involving levers, water, and cargo weight require you to think as much as you shoot, and transport trips through canals break up the gunplay. Enemies behave intelligently: Alliance soldiers run across, flank and call for reinforcements, and combat drones aim at the target. The companions stay close almost to the end: the rebels, Alex Vance and her father go through the most difficult episodes with the hero. Three episodes of additions left the story in the most interesting place, and it is still one of the main unfinished plots in games. Individual episodes have also become classics: a car ride along the coast, a drone flight and the defense of a laboratory are still remembered to this day. For those who want to understand where modern shooters came from, this road is a must.
