The story begins with taxi driver Tommy Angelo, who becomes a reluctant member of the criminal gang (Mafia) that rules the city. The game received a second life thanks to a modern re-release by Mafia in 2020. This video game is presented in the style of a cinematic thriller from a third person, where we see not only plot twists and the main character’s attitude to what is happening, but also real historical events that led to Prohibition, the Great Depression and many other facts from the life of an ordinary US citizen. Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven is the first part of the legendary trilogy about the hard everyday life of Mafia, the events of which unfold during the Great Depression. Tommy Angelo is an ordinary taxi driver who accidentally met representatives of the criminal world and became involved in their dangerous affairs. As he works for the Salieri family, his income and threats grow. And by the end of the game the difficulties will reach their climax. Events begin from the moment when Tommy decides to take with him two members of the Salieri family, who are being chased by people from the opposing family - the Morellos. At gunpoint, our hero agrees, and is made to understand that he can “ask for anything” when necessary. The next day, Morello's people attack the main character, beat him with batons, but the hero survives, comes to Salieri's restaurant and becomes a “member” of the family, taking the oath. Tommy himself works for a criminal group for eight years, which are allotted by the plot of the game. We will go through all the scenes from a third person perspective, no matter: driving a car or in “walking” mode. We will be able to steal cars, steal them, also bring them for dismantling, and then use the money received to buy new ones at the car dealership of an official dealer. Many world brands in the game have been preserved only externally, the names have been changed. The number of missions is equal to the entire story campaign. Although the world is open and the player can do whatever he wants in it, there is no escape from the story campaign. While you work for Salieri's group, you will have to kill people, steal cars, build frames for the police and commit as many crimes as they will pay for. There are enough weapons in the game. There is also a lot of ammunition. The player will be able to carry 5 types of light weapons and one heavy weapon - a machine gun, a rifle. Mafia features over two dozen missions set in the open world of 1930s New Haven. The developers reliably and accurately conveyed the atmosphere of that era, which is noticeable in everything: architecture, cars, clothing and music, everything is recreated with historical accuracy. The tasks will be varied: from chases and shootouts to the illegal sale of alcohol and other exciting tasks. You will also be able to freely travel around the huge city and participate in quick events or complete NPC orders. Every gamer will find something of their own in this game and will enjoy the unusual setting for many hours.
