Age of Empires is a real-time strategy game that marked the beginning of the franchise of the same name. You are offered to choose one of twelve countries, playing for which the player moves into new eras and gradually becomes stronger. The transitions are the Stone Age, agriculture, bronze and iron. Among the civilizations available are Babylon, Greece, Rome, Persia, Egypt and others. Farms and warehouses keep the army well-fed. Addition The Rise of Rome expands the list of gaming countries to sixteen. Units and equipment are controlled manually. The army attacks enemies, buildings are erected, resources are collected. Four types of materials are mined: gold, stone, wood and food. Stone allows you to build buildings and erect walls, wood is needed for buildings, ships, farms and bows. Food feeds units, and gold goes to technology and army training. Towers and walls cover the settlement. Walls slow down the attacks of neighbors. The goal of tasks most often comes down to defeating an opponent, but the mechanics are much broader. Diplomacy, the search for allies, unification with neutral factions and wars are in use. Trade and exchange of raw materials are supplemented by military assistance to the allies. Priests heal wounded soldiers. Trade routes bring gold to the treasury. The campaign includes four scenarios: Rise of Egypt, Glory of Greece, Voices of Babylon and Empire of the Rising Sun Yamato. Depending on the campaign, they contain between eight and twelve missions. In online play, up to eight participants compete simultaneously. For those who like to start history from the Stone Age, this game is suitable.
