Heroes of Might and Magic 4 is a continuation of the legendary turn-based strategy, in which the creators decided to return to the original sources. The game contains six campaigns with unique stories and different races. Each of them tells the story of a man who arrived in the mysterious world of Axeoth from the dying Enroth. Due to the convergence of artifacts - Armageddon and the Ice Blades, an explosion occurs, which causes the cataclysm - Reckoning. From the dying Universe, portals open to other spaces where life and strength can be restored. The following story campaigns are available to the player in “Heroes of Might and Magic IV”: • The True Blade - Lord Lysander, along with a sage named Adamus and the priest Proeto, goes in search of the true heir to the throne. • Past Greatness – Verjak, son of Tanrum, gathers barbarians to create his own force. • The price of peace - the girl Emilia creates a state and will protect it from Gavin Magnus, the immortal ruler, and a genie named Solmir ibn Wali Barad. • Alvin and Shaera - Alvin will go in search of his beloved, who was kidnapped by Lord Gark. • Half-Dead – tells the story of a half-man, half-dead. Goldoth the Half-Dead is trying to regain his good reputation and stop Calibarr, who wants to destroy all worlds. • A pirate's daughter - after the death of Tawni's father, Balfour leads the ship and, together with Pete Gurley, will capture settlements and control the Golden Sea. The action takes place on a map, where heroes and creatures as part of troops move to different places. Armies receive resources and artifacts in battle. The main component of the gameplay is the countries in which you can get resources and armies. Terrain and troop movement require separate turns. There are underground levels on the maps - these are copies of above-ground levels. The struggle here is for seven resources. This is gold for setting up settlements and hiring troops, wood and ore for construction, sulfur, crystals, precious stones and mercury. Profits come mainly from cities. In "Heroes of Might and Magic 4" magic is divided into schools - the magic of life, order, death, chaos, nature. Characters learn spells according to their skills at a certain level. Battles take place in separate windows on the world map. The troops are located on the sides and act alternately. During the process, the main characters perform certain actions. The initiative parameter determines the order of moves. Artifacts come in the form of weapons, potions, treasures, relics, and items such as shoes, hats, necklaces, cloaks, shields, and swords that a character can equip or use to level up individual skills. The hero has nine skills, namely: intelligence, tactics, military science, nobility and magical abilities. They can be developed in the process, as well as new ones can be learned.
