S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is a first-person shooter with a unique combat system, bullet ballistics, item crafting, weapon upgrades, loot, mutants, side quests and factions inhabiting the zone. The game was developed on the basis of searching for artifacts in dangerous radiation-hazardous places, but the developers went further and made a full-fledged shooter. The events of the game take place in the open world in the Exclusion Zone, which was discussed so much in Tarkovsky’s films. The plot begins with us waking up in a bunker. The main character does not remember his name, his origin, or his goal, so the first playable character, the merchant Sidorovich, calls us Marked because of the tattoo on his face. Then Sidorovich says that we must work out our salvation, and sends us to a shooter nicknamed Shustry. We have to give him the flash drive. The plot is unraveled at this moment, and then based on the player’s actions it will become clear where the character will move - linear progression in Stalker is not the basis of the game. The game also has 5 endings, which the main character comes to after using the Wish Granter. The first is power. The soul of the Marked One goes into the Monolith. The second is wealth. Nuts fall from the roof and then the roof collapses on the player. The third is the apocalypse. The Marked One makes a wish for humanity to disappear and the world plunges into darkness. Fourth - “so that the zone disappears.” The hero sees a rainbow, “pink” world around him, but in reality, Marked is blind. Fifth is immortality. The main character turns into a statue. The game's artificial intelligence and graphics engine are based on the X-Ray Engine. The graphics look amazing, and the mutants and NPCs - the game's characters - behave almost like real people. There are enough weapons in the game that can be improved, but there are a lot of items for improvement, but you won’t be able to carry everything with you in your inventory - there won’t be enough space.
