The Beast Inside

The Beast Inside - Adam moves with his wife to a country house so that in silence he can decipher the code on which the outcome of the confrontation between the superpowers depends. His plans quickly fall apart: in the attic he finds the diary of the previous owner, and from that moment something goes wrong in the house. The mansion was designed in detail: some of the objects and furnishings were recreated based on real things of that time. The narrative takes place in two tenses at once. In 1979, Adam deals with a military secret, and in the last century his predecessor faces his own horrors, and both lines are more connected than they seem. There are almost no weapons, but there is a flashlight, master keys and everything that can be found in drawers and on shelves. Opponents are sensitive to light and noise, so running around the parquet in the dark is a sure way to attract attention. Between scenes there are moments where you just need to look around and understand what has changed in the house. The puzzles are designed like secret locks: codes, mechanisms, hidden compartments, and notes to match. Some decisions require attentiveness, since clues are hidden in the environment and are not given out separately. Horror rests on silence: the creaking of floorboards, rustling behind the wall and shadows in the corridor are more frightening than any monsters. Sometimes you have to run and hide, and then the only salvation is knowing the layout. A separate part of the story takes place in the Blackstone estate: an abandoned place holds more secrets than the house itself. The diary is read page by page, and the entries gradually explain what connects the two protagonists and why the horror repeats itself. The ending depends on how carefully the player collected information. For those who love horror with puzzles and history in two time layers.
