Collected fireflies provide additional thread, so you should look for them in secluded corners. The main tool is yarn: it is used to build bridges, make loops, and pull objects up. The length of the thread is limited, so you can’t throw it around, and the break will throw you back. The environment changes between chapters: now it is a garden, now a house, now a workshop with mechanisms. The thread can be pulled between the supports, and almost all the tasks here are based on this. Platforming alternates with puzzles: raise the platform, throw a rope, assemble a mechanism. The puzzles do not require speed, but test your attention to the situation. The game has almost no text, so the story is told through the locations themselves and their details. The platforming is soft: mistakes are not punished, but are returned a couple of steps back. In addition to the plot, there are stories told through the environment: traces of people, things left behind, sounds in the distance. It all adds up to a quiet, sad parable about memory and loss, and it’s best to play it slowly. Photos and notes that remain in the memory create the mood of a quiet story. The music here is calm and hardly distracts from contemplating the scenery. Sometimes it is more important to stop and look at the scenery than to run to the exit.
