BioShock

BioShock is a first-person shooter game set in the underwater city of Rapture. The atmosphere here is based on contrast: beautiful interiors and a complete lack of order. In addition to the shootouts, there is research, audio recordings and tasks that form the basis of what happened to the city. The story leads to a conclusion that is still being debated, and the soundtrack and design create an atmosphere of decadence. It is worth mentioning separately about the audio recordings: part of the story is told in the voices of those who lived in the city, and from them it becomes clear what happened. In addition to the shootouts, there is a choice between destroying the little sisters and rescuing them, and this affects the ending. Abilities are developed, unlocking new techniques, and weapons are improved with the help of found parts. The design and sound create a rare sense of place where beauty and destruction coexist. The duration is moderate, but the density of events is high, and this is one of the reasons why the game is replayed. Some of the abilities help peacefully: freeze, stun, throw away, and this gives a choice in every fight. First aid kits and ammunition are limited, so battles have to be fought carefully and not head-on. Some tasks can be completed quietly if you use the available tools correctly. For those who like shooters with an idea, the BioShock remains a notable example.
