SpellForce: Conquest of Eo

SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is noticeably different from other games in the series. In this offshoot, the genre is changed: previous parts were hybrids of RTS and role-playing games, and here 4X strategy and tactics are mixed. Everything happens in steps, not in real time. There are fewer role-playing game elements, leveling up has become simpler, and the concept of heroes has changed a lot. Now the heroes have actually become enhanced analogues of ordinary warriors. Fighters earn experience, increase levels and become stronger, and some receive additional skills such as the ability to heal allies. The project has a hundred units and sixty spells. Resources are mined, random events happen, troops are moved, spells are learned and used. Relations with friendly cities are improved, and artifacts, students and workers are found. The action takes place in the lands of Eo, inhabited by dwarves, griffins, orcs, demons and goblins. The player takes on the role of a sorcerer who inherited a magic tower from his teacher. This building floating above the ground can move, and new rooms can be built inside. The magicians of the Circle will have to avenge the death of their teacher, the continent will have to be captured, and the Archflame will have to be liberated from the usurpers. This is how the sources of magical powers are called in this dimension, and control over them expands one’s possessions. The narrative is told through text inserts and illustrations. At story points, the player is given a decision to make, and the choice leads to two endings. The global campaign map is randomly generated. The main character has three professions available. The alchemist crafts explosive vials and potions, the necromancer raises the dead and commands the undead, and the Master creates magical items and glyphs. Anyone who loves magic and turn-based campaigns will find this game perfect.
